Things to do in London in August

If you’re looking for things to do in London in August, there is of course, the legendary SGI London Social Programme for our lovely students. However, if you want to do even more, here is a selection of some of the millions of things on offer in London in super sunny August.

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL

(August 24th and 25th) Cost: FREE The biggest carnival in Europe takes place over 2 hot days in North West London. It celebrates Afro-Caribbean culture and is is a big excuse for all types of music (Salsa, Reggae, Soca, House, Techno, Funk and Jazz). You can also try hundreds of different types of food like West-Indian Jerk chicken, Rice and peas, curry etc from hundreds of stalls. You need to go with some friends to get the most out of this street-party.

SILENT DISCO at THE VIEW FROM THE SHARD

(Aug 2nd and Aug 23rd) Cost: £37.50 Things to do in London in August silent disco in The ShardWestern Europe’s tallest building hosts a silent disco with 3 different DJs. Put on your headphones and party the night away. Very expensive, but this is a once in a lifetime kinda thing to do that will make your London memories last forever.

CAMDEN BEACH

(July 26th until Aug 23rd) Cost: FREE 900 sq/m of sand, deck chairs, beach huts, ice-cream van, restaurants, barbecue, ping-pong, air-hockey and music gigs – it’s everything you would find at the seaside everyday, except it’s in North London!     THEATRE: Shakespeare in Love, Let the right one in, War Horse, Macbeth, 1984, Curious incident of the dog in the night time     MUSICALS: The Bodyguard, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Charlie and the chocolate factory, Wicked, The Book of Mormon (from the creators of South Park), Thriller, Mamma Mia     MUSEUMS & GALLERIES Most of London’s world-famous museums are free to enter. That includes The Natural History Museum, The British Museum, The Science Museum, The V&A, Museum of London, The Wallace Collection. The Imperial War Museum, The Tate Modern, The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain and MANY more. UNUSUAL: Fawlty Towers Dining Experience at Charing Cross Hotel Harry Potter London Tour with Muggle tours       Come and study English with SGI and have an unbelievably great time in London, too.
