An IELTS score can enable you to access higher education courses, meet visa entry requirements and demonstrate proficiency in the workplace. SGI IELTS courses are preparation courses that ensure you are ready to achieve the IELTS result you need when you take the exam. There are weekly IELTS test sessions so teachers can monitor your progress and provide individual advice on areas to work on. You can take the IELTS exam in London, and our team can arrange this for you.
SGI – St George International has considerable experience of providing Academic English courses in London enabling students to access UK universities and colleges and good international work opportunities.
We have a comprehensive range of full-time IELTS preparation courses, a University Foundation course and evening classes in Academic Writing, and Cambridge FCE and CAE exam preparation.
At our London school, our team of native-speaker tutors are all highly-qualified and experienced in teaching Academic English to an excellent standard; we are dedicated to ensuring all of our students come away with the knowledge and skills that they need to achieve their goals.

IELTS Preparation Course
The IELTS Preparation course runs from 9.15 – 12.45 and starts every Monday.
What will I do on the IELTS course?
- The IELTS preparation course ensures you are fully prepared for the IELTS test with all aspects of the test covered in the classroom. Importantly, extra attention is given to the writing test which is often a weaker area for most students.
- There are weekly practice IELTS test sessions so teachers can monitor your progress and provide individual advice on areas to work on.
- The small group sizes for SGI's IELTS preparation courses allow you plenty of individual attention and advice on areas that need a special focus.
- You receive interesting and engaging lessons from experienced teachers ensuring you make good progress to achieve the IELTS result you need.
- At the end of the preparation course, you can take the IELTS exam in London. This can be arranged for you by the academic management team (current approximate cost £180).

IELTS Intensive Mini-Group
The IELTS Intensive Mini-Group combines the morning IELTS Preparation classes (09.15 – 12.45) with an afternoon General English mini-group (13.30-15.00). This is the perfect option to prepare for the IELTS test for anyone that would like extra speaking and listening practice in the afternoon.
What will I achieve on the IELTS course?
- You will focus on all sections of the IELTS exam. Importantly, special attention on writing is a priority because this section is normally where student lose points from their overall score.
- Students on this course acquire the skills and confidence needed to achieve the desired score in the IELTS exam.
- Regular practice tests improve your confidence with the format and questions, so that you become comfortable with the demands of the exam.
- The lessons teach you techniques to deal with exam questions effectively.
- You will work with other students to ensure you improve your ability to communicate well in English.

Our Intensive IELTS Mini-Group course provides learners with 22.5 hours of study per week. The small class sizes, in both the morning and afternoon, allow a great deal of close monitoring by teachers, ensuring they make maximum progress and achieve the IELTS score they need.
Besides working on all aspects of the IELTS test in the morning the afternoon classes are structured to encourage and develop students’ ability to speak and communicate in English, important parts of the IELTS test.

IELTS Combination Course
Our IELTS Combination courses integrate group study in the mornting with one-to-one lessons in the afternoon starting at 13.30 or 15.15. This is an ideal course for students who want to work solidly on IELTS combining IELTS exam preparation and a focus on individual requirements.
- If following an IELTS Preparation group morning course, you can choose either weekly 5 (Combo 5), 10 (Combo 10) or 15 (Combo 15) lessons of individual tuition during the afternoon from 13.30.
- If following an IELTS Intensive group morning/afternoon course, you can choose an Intensive Combo 5 course (5 lessons per week) from 15.15 in the afternoon.
What can I expect from the course?
- This course combines dynamic group lessons to develop your ability to get the IELTS result you require along with individual lessons that fully focus on your specific needs.
- You can choose from a range of one-to-one options in the afternoon from either 5 (Combo 5), 10 ( Combo 10) or 15 ( Combo 15) lessons of private tuition.
- You will receive full and comprehensive feedback on your lessons and your progress towards your target IELTS score.
- You can expect to develop your confidence in using and speaking English as well as working on those aspects of your English in need of special focus.

This course combines morning group lessons with 2 individual lessons each afternoon to accelerate progress in your IELTS preparation.
The group morning sessions from 09.15 to 12.45 are highly focussed on IELTS exam techniques with a full practice test every Thursday.
An intensive IELTS English course for the most committed students.
There are 4 morning lessons in a group of up to 10 students with a practice IELTS exam every week. In these classes there is lots of work on writing, speaking, listening and reading in order to obtain the best IELTS mark.
Three individual classes with an experienced IELTS tutor every day after lunch, consolidates the knowledge and exam techniques covered in the morning classes.
IELTS Intensive Mini-Group course until 15.00 with an individual lesson from 15.15 to 16.00 each day.
